Saint John – Saint John Airport’s runway has reopened following an incident this morning that saw a small, one-engine plane flip onto its roof, airport officials have announced.
Airport finance director Greg Hierlihy confirmed several flights were interrupted while the aircraft was obstructing the runway, and while police, fire and paramedics were on site. “The airlines are now working with affected passengers to reschedule travel. Arriving and departing flights scheduled for this afternoon will not be impacted.”
All emergency procedures were followed throughout the course of the incident, Hierlihy added.
The airport’s second runway is currently closed for construction.
