WE’RE MAKING IMPROVEMENTS TO SERVE YOU BETTER

Construction is underway on our airfield with the bulk of the activity happening between May to October 2019, and is expected to be completed by December 2019. We apologize for any minor inconvenience as we work to improve your Saint John Airport but rest assured it is business as usual at YSJ.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: EFFECTIVE JULY 25 TO SEPTEMBER 2, 2019

Planned Hardware Upgrades to Long-Term Parking Lots
To serve you better, each of the airport’s two long-term parking lots will be under construction at separate times throughout the summer. Rest assured that plenty of long-term parking will be available and travelers will be able to retrieve their vehicles with ease during the construction.

The construction schedule is:

Long-Term Parking Lot #1
• Closed for upgrades July 25 through August 16.
• Visitors are asked to use Parking Lot #2 during this time.
• Will re-open on August 16.

Long-Term Parking Lot #2
• Closed for upgrades August 19 through September 2nd.
• Visitors are asked to use Parking Lot #1 during this time.
• Will re-open on September 2nd.

The hardware upgrades to the long-term parking lots will improve the reliability and speed of the parking equipment and ultimately enhance customer experience. It will also allow us to implement new technologies such as Hot Spot Parking and Visa contactless payments to allow users to simply tap to pay.

There will be no disruption to the Short-Term Parking area. Visitors are encouraged to consult the parking map to familiarize themselves with lot locations.

Q1. When will construction take place at the Saint John Airport?
The bulk of the activity will happen between May to October 2019, and is expected to be completed by December 2019.

Q2. What construction is happening?
The Saint John Airport’s airfield will be completely rehabilitated and modernized, thanks to a $10 million investment made by Transport Canada and $4 million by the Government of New Brunswick plus more than $6 million committed by the Saint John Airport Inc. for a total project cost of $20.4 million. This investment will enable us to make safety-related improvements that ensure we comply with the latest airport design standards and lessen the cost of annual routine maintenance going forward. The Airfield Modernization Project comprises the complete rehabilitation of the airport’s two runways, taxiways, and tarmac.
