NEW IMPROVEMENTS ON THE HORIZON FOR YSJ
There is a lot of activity happening at the Saint John Airport that I'd like to share with you.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING A HUGE SUCCESS
On May 8th, we hosted our 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Delta Hotel in Saint John. It was our largest AGM turnout ever. I'd like to thank everyone who attended and helped to make this event a huge success. If you missed it, you can watch our Highlights video here. Or if you want even more information about the airport, check out the YSJ 2017 Annual Report here.
TWO MAJOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS UNDERWAY
YSJ is making some major improvements to serve you better. If you visit our airport anytime from now until December 2019 you'll notice some construction. There are two main construction projects currently underway: an ‘Exterior Beautification Project’ and an ‘Airfield Modernization Project’.
IMPROVEMENTS TO PARKING LOT AREAS
Improvements to the exterior of the Saint John Airport are currently underway in the parking lot areas. Temporary parking has been created during construction. Please watch for signs directing you to available parking. If you'd like to learn more about the Exterior Beautification Project you'll find details here.
FUNDING RECEIVED FOR RUNWAY IMPROVEMENTS
The Saint John Airport’s airfield will be completely rehabilitated and modernized, thanks to a $10 million investment made by Transport Canada and $4 million by the Government of New Brunswick plus more than $6 million committed by the Saint John Airport Inc. for a total project cost of $20.4 million.
This investment will enable us to make safety-related improvements that ensure we comply with the latest airport design standards and lessen the cost of annual routine maintenance going forward.
We are currently in the planning and design phase. Construction is expected to begin in August 2018. For more information about the Airfield Modernization Project you'll find it here.
This is an exciting time of growth for YSJ. We apologize for any inconvenience as we work to improve your Saint John Airport.
