Our Commitment and Accessibility at YSJ
The Saint John Airport (YSJ) is committed to providing a pleasant and accommodating travel experience to persons with disabilities. The terminal building is a one level unit with curbside drop off and pick up along the front of the building.
Assistance from the counter to the aircraft is provided by the airline. If assistance is required, please make arrangements in advance with the airlines.
The Saint John Airport provides curbside to counter accessibility, with prior arrangement. A minimum of 72 hours notice is required. Please email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org or you may contact us directly at 506-638-5557 or 506-638-5555 during business hours of Monday to Friday from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. Please include the following information:
Name of traveller
Airline and flight number
Time of arrival at airport curbside
Telephone, cell phone, email address
Nature of special needs assistance
Name of person arranging assistance (if different from above)
Telephone, cell phone, and email address
Vehicle description (type, make of vehicle, colour)
Please note: Arrival time must be accurate. If you do not arrive at the prearranged time assistance will not be available.
We strongly suggest that you also contact your airline ahead of time regarding your special needs.
Alternative Communication Systems (i.e. TTY)
A Teletypewriter (TTY) telephone is located at the arrivals area in the terminal building and has volume control.
Designated Drop off and Pick up areas
If you are picking up or dropping off someone at the airport, there are designated areas located at the arrival and departure entrances in front of the terminal building. Please note that these areas are for immediate pick up or drop off only. Vehicles must not be left unattended. Short term parking is available if you need more time for picking up or dropping off passengers.
Accessible Parking Areas
People with limited mobility who have a valid certificate attesting to this fact and needing adapted parking can use the accessible spaces located in both the short term (limit 5 hours) and long term lots at the same rate as the general public rates. Low Entry Buses
Saint John Transit is committed to servicing the entire community by providing services that make public transportation easy, safe and reliable for the mobility impaired, senior citizens and even bicyclists. Passengers with mobility impairment can enjoy the benefits of public transportation. Saint John Transit's low-entry buses have the unique ability to drop to the curb and extend a ramp. Low entry buses are wheelchair accessible and allow passengers to board buses without climbing a single step. Please check routes and schedules to find out more or contact Saint John Transit.
Various products and services are available for drivers and passengers with disabilities. Please visit our transportation page for a list of rental car agencies. Customers are asked to make the necessary arrangements at least 48 hours in advance with their car rental agency.
Diamond Taxi / Port City Cab offers taxi service to and from the Saint John Airport. Taxis are located just outside the terminal building in front of the arrivals door. A direct no-cost telephone line is also located inside the terminal building at the arrivals door. You can also pre book a taxi using our App or by calling 506-648-8888. Diamond Taxi / Port City Cab is able to accommodate wheelchair guests as long as the wheelchair is collapsible. Handi Bus would be used as an alternative for wheelchair guests. If you require assistance to book while at the terminal, please visit the Commissionaires Office located next to arrivals.

The terminal building is open 24-7.
The Saint John Airport Administration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Airlines operating at the Saint John Airport have wheelchairs available for passenger use.
All washrooms feature doorless entrances and are equipped with toilet stalls adapted for use by people with limited mobility.

Use of carpeting in the terminal has been minimized to facilitate wheelchair movement and is only located in the departures lounge.

Connections Bistro Restaurant has moveable chairs and tables that can be easily arranged to allow for wheelchair access.
Wheelchair users can enter all shops and restaurants in the terminal building.
All tenants are ground level with barrier free access.
Flight information is published on monitors and screens and is announced on the public address system in both English and French.
The Commissionaires are located at ground level next to the arrivals gate and are available for information and assistance.
The Saint John Airport is a small airport and CATSA representatives are always willing and able to assist passengers as needed. If assistance is required, please arrive at the airport as far in advance of your flight as possible, to allow CATSA time to assist.
Medical and Emergency Services
AOS, Commissionaires and some airport staff have been trained in emergency first aid and are on site to assist as needed.
Fire alarms are both audible and visual. If a fire alarm is activated, special ceiling lights inform the hearing impaired.
