The staff of Saint John Airport Inc. welcomes you!

Your Saint John Airport is a locally controlled entity established 1999 when Transport Canada relinquished its role as operator.

The Board of Directors consists of 12 directors nominated by the following entities: Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Governments, plus the Saint John District Labour Council, Saint John Board of Trade, Saint John Airport, and Enterprises Fundy, Charlotte and Saint John.

Municipal Authority Agreement

A Municipal-Authority Agreemtn (MAA), or in its absence a public statement of intent relative to the Authority's practices, was required by December 1, 2000.  An Agreemnt has not been concluded and the Authority advised Transport Canada on September 30, 2004 that a notice of its intent in the absense of a Municipal-Authority Agreement has been posted on its website.  This Notice of Intent follows:

Construction of New Facilities and Alteration of Existing Facilities

By way of a formal Motion passed by the Saint John Airport Board of Directors, the Airport shall not enter into a Municipal Authority Agreement with the City of Saint John.

Saint John Airport Inc. is required by the terms of its lease agreement with Transport Canada to agree that, in the absence of a Municipal Authority Agreement, no facility shall be constructed or altered in a way that is not in full compliance with the National Building Code and National Fire Code of Canada.

Further, the lease agreement with Transport Canada requires that, in the absence of a Municipal Authority Agreement, the Airport shall obtain the services of a professional Architect or Engineer who is independent of the Airport…who shall be able to and shall certify that any new Facility has been constructed or altered substantially in accordance with standards contained in the National Building Code and the National Fire Code of Canada.
